The first component you'll probable have observed today is
the new format for the British psychological Society internet site. This
reflects a chief funding of time and resources, and I am delighted that each
one the hard work of my colleagues over many months has brought about a hit
launch – and a first-rate new look!
Over the past few months, we’ve been engaged in a procedure
of analyzing the manner humans used our previous internet site, asking a wide
range of customers (and potential customers) about what they wanted/wished, and
checking out exclusive options.
And while we’ve
already moved a huge amount of content (both a great deal of the textual
content of the antique internet site, but also a huge quantity of downloadable
files and reports) throughout we are nevertheless working on each the content
material of each web page, and on the material to be had.
so when you have
hints or if you’ve noticed an mistakes, or even when you have recommendations
for the way we'd phrase our language most accurately – allow us to know.
The new website has been designed particularly with
individuals of the public in thoughts. We've got, to be honest, spent greater
time considering how the Society can speak to non-individuals in a more
reachable manner than we were focused on individuals (whom we experience are
much more likely if you want to navigate the website as it presently stands).
Albert Camus once stated that: “Psychology is motion, not
thinking about oneself” and, as a charity, the British mental Society has a
legal duty to work for the general public gain. So we set out to create a
present day, on hand, pleasant internet site, with non-psychologists firmly in
mind.
You'll see that the ‘for the general public’ detail of the
website online is now outstanding and clear. The website is designed to be easy
to navigate and contemporary (technically, it has been designed to be less
reliant on navigating to and from a ‘home web page’) and higher integrated with
the studies Digest and The Psychologist. Importantly, we've taken professional
advice to make the website available to human beings with visible and different
forms of disability.
THIS IS, BUT, A WORK IN PROGRESS.
For some time, we’ll be transferring and uploading fabric
throughout to the brand new web page. A lot, but no longer all, of the content
will were edited as it moves from an vintage site, in which it is able to no
longer had been edited for a long time.
This means we’ll additionally want your input. We welcome
feedback – praise and grievance – and we welcome guidelines for those necessary
modifications to fabric that may be, and should be, worded extra correctly.
